A useful fit for

A side-by-side pair of induction zones for a household setup that accepts a shared 1,800 W ceiling, a 20 A breaker and 4.7–10.83-inch magnetic cookware bases.

The main tradeoff

Its right zone maxes at 1,300 W alone, total output is shared, and simultaneous use caps either zone at 1,300 W. Temperature steps are uneven, up to 60°F; timer tops at 179 minutes.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does your counter suit a horizontal, side-by-side pair?

The exact B2 body is about 20 1/2 inches wide and 14 1/8 inches deep according to the manual. The IDC12 is the narrower vertical sibling.

Can your smallest flat magnetic pan base measure at least 4.7 inches?

The exact manual supports 12–26 cm (4.7–10.83 in) cookware. Smaller or larger bases fall outside the published guidance.

Is a 179-minute timer long enough for your essential countdown?

The exact B2 manual gives a per-zone maximum of 179 minutes and automatic shutoff at expiry. A requirement of 180 minutes is not confirmed.

The EMPV-IDC12B2 is the side-by-side member of Empava’s small 120 V, 1,800 W two-zone family. Its horizontal arrangement may be a better fit than the narrower, front-to-back EMPV-IDC12 when two pans need space beside one another. The distinction is functional as well as visual: use the exact B2 page and manual identity, not the IDC12 diagrams, when checking how its zones sit on a counter or how a built-in cutout should be planned. Both exact model codes appear on the shared manufacturer manual cover, but their layouts and timer limits are not interchangeable.

Shared power shapes the two-pan routine

Each B2 element has its own power range: the left zone is listed from 300 to 1,800 W and the right from 300 to 1,300 W. Yet the unit is capped at 1,800 W combined. When both zones are active, the manual limits each to no more than 1,300 W; when one is in Temperature mode, the other can be set no higher than 900 W. In other words, a larger left-zone maximum is available when it is the only active zone, not while the other side is also drawing power. This will suit supplementary cooking and smaller parallel tasks better than a plan that depends on two separate maximum outputs.

Temperature mode has nine discrete selections—120, 150, 180, 210, 260, 300, 360, 420 and 460°F—with uneven intervals and a largest 60°F jump. The cooktop reads near the center of the heating element from beneath the glass, says Empava; that is a control estimate, not a thermometer reading in the food or a promise that different pans heat identically. Use Power mode when a selected wattage is the relevant control, and regard the Melt, Keep Warm and Simmer keys as presets. In this manual, the B2 countdown range is one to 179 minutes per cooking element, with automatic element shutoff when the timer reaches zero. Pause is limited to ten minutes and stops the countdown during the pause.

Check both plan and electrical details

The manufacturer lists a horizontal body 20 1/2 inches long by 14.2 inches wide and 2.2 inches high. It uses a 120 V plug, with the exact manual specifying a minimum 20 A circuit breaker. The product page’s electrical fields and the manual’s breaker instruction must be read together; the fact that a plug is present is not evidence that any occupied circuit is adequate. Ask a qualified electrician if the breaker and existing load are unclear.

Empava documents countertop use with feet, as well as a built-in option for a qualified installer. For the built-in plan, use the exact B2 cutout dimensions and clearances in the current manufacturer manual; the IDC12 is a different, narrower outline. Do not cut a counter based on the product title or gallery image. If installed as a countertop cooker, keep the prescribed air paths clear and use it indoors only. The guide supports flat-bottom, magnetic cookware from 12 to 26 cm (4.7–10.83 inches); measure the working flat base rather than relying on the pan’s rim diameter.

Who should compare another configuration?

This model makes the most sense if side-by-side placement is valuable, two zones are genuinely needed, the shared 1,800 W ceiling is acceptable, and your pans lie inside the manual’s stated size range. A shopper who wants a bridge-style zone should compare the EMPV-12EC07, whose Sync button links adjacent elements; the B2 manual does not establish that feature for this layout. If one pan at a time is enough, the earlier EMPV-11EC06 is a smaller single-zone option, though its lowest two power labels are pulse cycles rather than continuous 100/200 W output. For temperature control over a much longer timer, the earlier EMPV-13EC09 is broader and gives a 9-hour-59-minute maximum, but it too shares a 1,800 W total.

The exact B2 product card is in Empava’s displayed induction range, but its detail page shows sold-out wording alongside inconsistent cart messages; availability should be checked rather than assumed. Its two-year warranty listing and listed dimensions are not an independent evaluation. No boiling-speed, noise, long-term or pan-temperature measurements are claimed here. The decision is about the supported operating plans and limits documented by Empava.

Paper, software and setup details

Cookware fit and manual discrepancy

12–26 cm (4.7–10.83 in) flat magnetic cookware is supported by the exact manual.

Electrical and placement note

120 V/60 Hz; the exact manual specifies a minimum 20 A circuit breaker.

Body dimension order

Manual labels B2 body W × D × H; detail page wording is rounded and its axis presentation differs.

Placement and permitted-use guidance

Countertop feet or qualified built-in installation; use the B2 cutout drawing, not the IDC12 drawing.
