A useful fit for

A fit when two induction-compatible pans must heat at once, countertop or qualified built-in placement is useful, and one shared 1800 W maximum is enough.

The main tradeoff

Two active zones share a combined 1800 W ceiling, the right zone is limited to 1000 W alone, each pan base must be at least five inches, and the wide unit needs a dedicated 120 V/15 A circuit and carefully checked ventilation/installation clearances.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you need two pans to heat at the same time?

Yes. The exact manual identifies separate left and right induction zones. They share output: both together are limited to 1800 W combined.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is a documented built-in option essential, as well as two zones?

The manual covers both countertop and built-in installation, but the built-in plan remains a 120 V/15 A plug-in installation and requires a qualified installer and its stated cutout/clearances.

Must both zones deliver their individual maximum wattage at the same time?

No. This model shares an 1800 W combined ceiling. The left zone can reach 1800 W alone and the right 1000 W alone, but the exact manual documents reduced or unavailable right-side power while the left is set high.

Explore this need in the finder →
Must the countdown reach at least three hours?

The model's exact manual permits a timer up to 180 minutes in either mode; a longer essential timer is not confirmed.

A two-zone, 120 V plug-in cooktop for countertop use or qualified built-in installation. It cooks with two pans at once, but shares a single 1,800 W ceiling.

Two cooking positions, one shared household power budget

The Duxtop 8620BI/BTK35 has two marked induction zones and separate touch controls. Secura's exact listing gives that paired model number; the manual cover identifies BT-K35 and 8620BI. Both countertop and built-in placement are documented, unlike the one-zone portable burners elsewhere in this library.

The power-sharing details matter more than the “1,800 W” label. The manual specifies 120 V, 60 Hz, 15 A and a dedicated outlet/circuit. Used alone, the left zone tops out at 1,800 W and the right at 1,000 W; both together share a combined 1,800 W maximum. The right zone stops working if the left is set to 8.5 or higher in Power mode. At left level 8, the Power-mode sharing chart caps the right at 400 W; in right-side Temperature mode the manual says sharing can make it take longer to reach the set temperature, without giving a fixed watt ceiling for that mode. Both zones can reach the 460°F Temperature setting, but that does not provide their separate maximum wattages at once.

It suits paired jobs such as simmering one pot while heating a side, if that combined ceiling works for you. Avoid it if you need unrestricted high heat on both burners. When one pan is enough, the BT-200T1/8600BI is simpler and gives one zone the same 1,800 W maximum without sharing it.

Separate settings and controls for both zones

Each zone has Power and Temperature modes, display, lock, and timer controls. The manual lists 20 Temperature settings from 100°F to 460°F. The power controls differ: the left has half-steps 0.5–10 and averages 100–1,800 W; the right has ten whole-number steps 1–10 and reaches 1,000 W alone. Both still share the combined ceiling.

Temperature mode is not a food probe. The manual says the sensor is beneath the glass and estimates cookware temperature, which can differ from the chosen setting. If internal-food temperature matters, use a model with a documented probe rather than treating this display as equivalent.

The countdown runs up to 180 minutes in either mode. With no timer or control change, the unit shuts off after 120 minutes. The lock prevents accidental setting changes, and the fan continues after shutoff while the glass cools.

Countertop use and built-in use are separate plans

At 23.62 × 13.30 × 2.87 inches and 12.3 pounds, it takes substantial counter space. Countertop use needs a dry, level, stable, noncombustible and nonmetallic surface, with at least four inches of ventilation clearance. Keep the inlet and outlet unobstructed. The manual says household use only and calls for a dedicated circuit.

Built-in installation saves counter space but does not convert it to a hardwired 208/240 V range: the manual still specifies a 120 V/15 A supply. Its drawing gives a 586 × 325 mm cutout and 55 mm side clearance. The instructions recommend a top panel at least 30 mm thick, open space below rather than a drawer, and installation by a qualified technician. The manual also gives overhead-cabinet and nearby-oven clearances. Check its complete drawing against your kitchen before cutting.

Cookware fit, care and the tradeoffs

Use flat, magnetic bases of at least five inches; cast iron, iron, magnetic steel, enameled iron and magnetic-bottom stainless steel are listed as suitable. Glass, ceramic, copper, aluminum and nonmagnetic stainless are not. Center the pan; insufficient magnetic area can trigger a no-pan warning. Maximum pan diameter is not established, so do not infer it from the ring or photo.

The manual limits objects on the glass to 25 pounds and says not to heat empty pans. After cooling, unplug and wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent; avoid abrasives or liquid entering the body. The scanned manual has Secura copyright 2021–2024 and a two-year limited warranty, void for commercial or institutional use. Neither the page nor manual establishes all current box contents; pots shown in the marketing image are not evidence that cookware is included.

Who should choose it

Consider the 8620BI/BTK35 if two pans really must heat at the same time, you can work within a combined 1,800 W ceiling, and either countertop placement or a carefully measured plug-in built-in installation suits your kitchen. It is a more purposeful dual-zone alternative to a one-zone unit, with separate mode settings and a longer 180-minute countdown than the single-zone BT-200T1/8600BI. But its left/right power asymmetry, shared ceiling, five-inch minimum pan base and substantial width are central limits, not footnotes. If you only need a second place to hold a pan at full heat while the first boils, compare a larger built-in range whose electrical supply and installation are designed for that demand. Neither the promotional photo nor the “two burner” label changes the manual’s 1,800 W combined maximum.

This assessment uses the exact Secura listing, the manual that identifies BT-K35 and 8620BI, and the official manufacturer image. It does not claim personal use, lab testing, a current price, retail stock or a particular manual edition packed in a current unit.

Paper, software and setup details

Cookware fit and manual discrepancy

Flat magnetic cookware bases must be at least 5 inches. No exact maximum pan diameter is established. The page/manual do not list all current package contents; do not assume the illustrated pots are included.

Manual-version differences

The exact public manual scan is manufacturer-authored, covers 8620BI and BT-K35, and bears Secura copyright 2021-2024; the model currently packed with a retail unit was not checked.

Placement and permitted-use guidance

Countertop and built-in placements are separately documented in the exact manual. Both remain 120 V/15 A plug-in household use; built-in work requires a qualified installer, a 586 x 325 mm cutout and exact clearances; the manual recommends a counter panel at least 30 mm thick. This is not a 208/240 V hardwired hob.
