A useful fit for

A fit when two countertop pans need heat at once, power sharing is acceptable, and a documented 10-hour countdown or short 140°F Keep Warm preset is useful.

The main tradeoff

Both zones share 1800 W, the right tops out at 1000 W alone and is disabled by high left-side Power settings, and no built-in plan or maximum-pan limit is documented.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do two pans have to heat at the same time?

Yes. The exact product page and model-paired manual show two separate induction zones; the manual limits their combined output to 1800 W.

Explore this need in the finder →
Would a one-touch Keep Warm preset be useful for a short serving interval?

The manual documents a Keep Warm preset of 140°F for 30 minutes. It is a short timed setting, not an indefinite food hold or a wired probe reading.

Explore this need in the finder →
Must the countdown timer run for at least four hours?

The model-paired manual describes a timer up to 10 hours in Power or Temperature mode. Without setting that timer, the cooktop shuts down after 120 minutes.

Explore this need in the finder →
Must both zones deliver their individual maximum wattage at the same time?

No. The manual caps both active zones at 1800 W combined and gives different individual maxima, so the separate peaks are not available together.

Is documented built-in installation essential?

The exact manual describes a portable countertop unit but no built-in installation plan. Do not infer a cut-in option from the word portable or the flat top.

Which model is actually being assessed?

Secura’s current page identifies 9620LS; the manual cover pairs that model with BT-350DZ. Its scanned pages bear 2018–2022 Secura copyright, but the edition in a present-day retail box is unknown. The page image shows a black glass cooktop without a separately named finish option, and the maker does not say whether it is a photo or render.

The page uses promotional “professional” language, but the exact manual says household use only, not commercial. It describes portable countertop use, not a cut-in range. If built-in placement is essential, compare the 8620BI/BT-K35; for one zone with a built-in option, see BT-200T1/8600BI.

Two zones do not create two full-power circuits

The left and right positions can each heat a compatible pan at the same time, with separate displays and controls. The manual specifies a 120 V, 60 Hz, 15 A circuit; use the dedicated outlet/circuit it requires rather than assuming two burners can each draw peak power from a typical household branch. On the left zone alone, its Power-mode scale reaches 1,800 W; the right zone alone reaches 1,000 W. With both operating, the manual caps their combined output at 1,800 W.

That shared limit changes what “dual zone” means in practice. The left-side level 8.5 setting (1,500 W) or higher puts the right side into standby; at left level 8.0 the manual’s Power-mode table leaves at most 400 W for the right. The manual also says both zones can reach the 460°F Temperature-mode setting, but this is not a promise that each can draw its own peak wattage concurrently. A two-pot simmer-and-side-dish routine may be more realistic than expecting two high-output jobs to behave like separate full-power burners.

Power steps, temperature feedback and useful shortcuts

Power mode is asymmetric: 20 half-step levels on the left (0.5–10, averaging 100–1,800 W) and ten whole-number steps on the right (1–10, 100–1,000 W). The lowest levels use cycling rather than continuous output. Temperature mode has 20 settings from 100°F to 460°F; its sensor is below the glass, so the manual describes an estimate that can differ by pan. No wired food probe is documented.

BOIL selects Power level 10 for 10 minutes but does not sense when water boils; the manual says to restart if needed. KEEP WARM selects 140°F for 30 minutes, not an indefinite hold. A lock helps prevent accidental setting changes while leaving the off control available.

A longer timer is its standout documented difference

The 9620LS manual describes a timer of up to 10 hours in either Power or Temperature mode. If no timer is set, the cooktop shuts down after 120 minutes; when a set timer ends, the cooktop turns off. That can matter for a long, attended recipe, but it is not permission to leave cooking unattended. This timer is longer than the 180-minute maximum documented for the built-in-capable 8620BI/BT-K35, whose installation flexibility is different. The longer timer therefore does not make the 9620LS a substitute for a built-in plan.

Measure the cookware and the counter

The manual requires a flat magnetic base at least five inches across. It lists iron-family cookware and magnetic-bottom stainless; glass, ceramic, copper, aluminum and nonmagnetic stainless bottoms are unsuitable. The maximum pan diameter is unknown, so do not infer one from the ring graphic or outer width.

Dimensions are listed as 23.9 × 14.2 × 2.4 inches without axis labels; weight is 12 lb 7.7 oz and cord length five feet. Leave at least four inches around the unit on a dry, level, stable, noncombustible, nonmetallic surface and keep its fan/vents open. The manual bars empty-pan heating and loads over 25 pounds on the glass. Once cool, unplug and wipe it with a damp cloth and mild detergent.

Who should choose the 9620LS?

Consider it when two compatible pans must heat together, the shared 1,800 W ceiling is acceptable, and countertop placement suits your kitchen. Its documented 10-hour timer and short Keep Warm setting differ from the 8620BI/BT-K35’s built-in option and 180-minute timer. Avoid it if both zones need their individual peaks at once, the right zone must remain on while the left runs at 1,500 W or more, you need an included food probe, or built-in/hardwired 208/240 V use is essential.

The manual’s two-year limited warranty is for the original purchaser under authorized-purchase and personal-use terms, and excludes commercial/institutional use. Confirm the exact 9620LS / BT-350DZ description and box contents with the seller; the pan and food styling in the image do not prove cookware is included.

This assessment uses Secura’s exact 9620LS product page, its sitemap-mapped product image and a public scan of the Secura-authored manual identifying BT-350DZ / 9620LS. It does not claim personal use, lab testing, current stock, or the manual edition and package contents of any particular sale unit.

Paper, software and setup details

Probe and temperature distinction

No wired food probe is documented; Temperature Mode estimates cookware temperature from below the glass.

Cookware fit and manual discrepancy

The manual requires a flat ferrous/magnetic base at least 5 inches across and does not establish a maximum pan diameter. It lists cast iron, iron, magnetic steel, enameled iron and magnetic-bottom stainless steel as suitable; glass, ceramic, copper, aluminum and nonmagnetic stainless bottoms are unsuitable.

Electrical and placement note

Dedicated 120 V/60 Hz/15 A household circuit; at least four inches of ventilation clearance for countertop use.

Manual-version differences

The public scanned manual cover pairs BT-350DZ and 9620LS; copyright 2018–2022. The exact in-box edition is unknown.

Body dimension order

23.9 × 14.2 × 2.4 in as listed; manual does not label the axes.
